The stunning new headquarters for ABN Group in Leederville by Woods Bagot is a finalist in two categories in the renowned Shaw Design Awards for 2021 — Large Office and Retail!
The Large Office category had seven global Category Finalists out of 170 submissions, of which Woods Bagot and the ABN Group project took out one of those spots. The Retail category had only one global Category Finalist out of 13 submissions, which again was Woods Bagot for the ABN Group project. An amazing achievement.
From over 700 Design Awards submissions, 46 projects have been selected as Category Finalists by a diverse panel of judges from around the globe. These projects, including ABN Group and Woods Bagot, are now eligible for the next stage of judging to select the “best of the best” — the Final Winners.
The People’s Choice competition is also open now until October 22, giving you the opportunity to vote for your favourite project from the Category Finalists. We know who we will be voting for!
“The whimsical phrase ‘Home Among the Gum Trees’ is a nod to the iconic Australian folk song, and a reference to the gum trees that line the exterior of the building, The design team drew on historical themes of Australian home life to create a collection of experiences for different spaces. A staple of the Australia backyard, the Hills Hoist clothesline is represented with stylised hanging rods and curtains above social and collaborative spaces; while the ‘Verandah’ inspired Level 1 Business Lounge is a collection of spaces along the north side in which to have an informal chat.
The sunken lounge under the group floor stair is a nod to the 70s retro Australian aesthetic. Meeting rooms have abstracted gum leaf and forest canopy patterns, and client meeting room walls are adorned with indigenous patterned wallpapers. The result has been a workplace interior where staff feel intrinsically connected and comfortable, and feel proud to share with their clients.”
Woods Bagot selected Shaw Contract Dye Lab in multiple colour ways in collaborative spaces and Flat Weave in Argan Earth for workspace areas. We enjoyed the process of working with the project leads to deliver such a high calibre workplace and retail showroom.
“This project is a great example of a collaborative effort from multiple parties to deliver an outstanding outcome,” COVRD Director Tim Stacey said.
“The look and feel of the interiors at Home Collective (the ABN Group showroom) is second to none and the Woods Bagot team should be extremely proud of what they have achieved,” he said.
